Customized building technology in Liseberg’s new anniversary hotel

Liseberg is one of the most popular family destinations in the Nordics. In celebration of the amusement park's 100th anniversary, a major investment has been made in a water park along with an experience hotel close to the park. Regin's partner, Systeminstallation, has been involved in the partnership project from the start. In April 2023, the first phase of the project was completed, and the energy-optimized and precision-controlled Grand Curiosa Hotel could open its doors for the first time.

The total area covers 30,000 square meters and includes a hotel, restaurant, rooftop bistro, meeting rooms, and a market hall. Regin has provided a complete solution for building automation, including several customized solutions. Among these is a project-specific room unit in tailored design for fan control and measurement of CO2 and temperature.

In close collaboration with Regin, we have developed several customized solutions that balance functionality, design, and energy efficiency. Now, we can precisely control heating, cooling, and underfloor heating in all areas and offer demand-controlled climate regulation in all 457 hotel rooms. In Arrigo, the building management system, it is also possible to create user-friendly interfaces that provide total control over the facility," says Anders Niklasson, Project Manager at Systeminstallation Gothenburg

The new hotel is environmentally certified at the BREAM level of excellence, which sets high standards for energy usage, indoor climate, and water management. Currently, seasonal tests are conducted to ensure that the system maintains the same quality year-round.

“We are very grateful for the trust from Systeminstallation, NCC, and Liseberg. The project exemplifies the flexibility within smart building automation in many aspects. It is not just about meeting environmental requirements and contributing to reduced energy consumption but also about creating an outstanding overall experience for guests. Liseberg has successfully achieved both”, says Anders Torsell, Sales Manager at Regin Controls Sverige.

Technical solution

A total of 270 programmable control units, EXOcompact Ardo, have been installed, with each unit serving two hotel rooms. A project-specific room unit with built-in temperature and CO2 measurement has been developed to control the climate in each hotel room, totaling 500 units communicating via EXOline. In addition, 900 zone valves and thermal actuators have been installed. Underfloor heating is controlled via DDCs with Regin's temperature sensors and valve actuators. In all 15 conference rooms of the hotel, the room controller Regio has been installed to manage temperature and CO2.

To control the building's central system, the programmable unit EXOclever has been installed. The central control systems are operated by EXOclever in combination with a total of 70 Add:IO modules. All system components are seamlessly connected to Regin's building management system, Arrigo BMS. The delivery also includes features for energy monitoring via Arrigo EMS.
