In Assen, the Netherlands, the De Slingeborgh care home is currently being built with 176 apartments, offices, a restaurant, and space for physical therapy. It is expected to be ready for residents in early 2026. The new care building replaces two older homes in Assen that no longer meet the client's requirements or fit with today's and future wishes. Creating a new home was ultimately the best option to support the elderly and those in need of care to continue living their lives as independently as possible.
The new care home consists of two new wings with four floors in each part, connected by a central section. It is designed to be sustainable, future-proof, and energy-efficient. Therefore, solar panels have been installed on the roof. These have been connected to heat pumps, which in turn are linked to the underfloor heating. To specifically control the indoor climate in each apartment and on each floor, the Regio RCX room controller and the freely programmable EXOcompact controller have been used.
Each apartment is equipped with a room controller. Rob de Vries, the responsible installer at ITBB, believes that the choice of the Regio RCX was an easy decision.
”The Regio RCX stood out for being both advanced and simple. It's advanced in its ability to connect to several different control systems, while also being simple and incredibly user-friendly for the end-user.”
The client, Interzorg, had specific requirements for what the controller needed to be able to handle. Interzorg needed a solution for a switchable floor heating and cooling system with a cooling stop for the bathrooms, including multiple inputs and outputs. Additionally, it was a requirement that the controller could be connected to the building’s BMS. The Regio RCX met all the requirements they had.
Rob de Vries likes what he has experienced with the room controller and the Regin:GO configuration app.
”We received a brief introduction to the Regin:GO app, and after that, the entire installation was experienced as very simple, especially since the app allowed for quick settings via a mobile phone and Bluetooth.”
